First trailer for Jim Carrey’s ‘Yes Man’ hits!

Our quick thoughts: I’m glad Jim Carrey finally returns to comedy in Peyton Reed’s upcoming “Yes Man,” because his shallow performance in “The Number 23” seriously left me wondering about the future of his career.

Yahoo! today premiered the first trailer for the film, and while it’s not necessarily hilarious, I have to admit it doesn’t look that bad either. For those of you still unfamiliar with the plot, “Yes Man” centers on a guy who agrees to say yes to everything for an entire year.

The trailer above doesn’t reveal much, although it shows Carrey repeatedly saying yes and having plenty of fun. Let’s hope we’ll enjoy this just as much when the flick opens Dec. 19, 2008. Zooey Deschanel, Bradley Cooper and Terence Stamp co-star. Feel free to share your thoughts on the trailer below.

..."because his shallow performance in “The Number 23” seriously left me wondering about the future of his career" I have to agree with you on that one, I wasn't a fan of Jim in that movie either, but I don't know if you go to the movies much (doubt it), believe it or not he was in a recent movie like a year ago called Horton Hears A Who. Granted its a kids film, but it's rather enjoyable.

Me, I go to the movies about four times a week:)

Sure, he was in Horton, but it was his voice. He didn't really deliver a comedic performance there. At least not those we are used to from a couple of years ago.

i liked Carrey in a series of unfortunate events actually. That was rather funny. And most of his films ave always been kids/family friendly really.

I can sorta agree on the number 23, i think one of the main issue was you could tell he was so out of his comfort zone for that role. And the playing two characters thing just didn't work. His Roles in Eturnal Sunshine had mixed review i believe, i personally enjoyed that film. I think Carrey works much better when hes not trying to be funny AND something else. e.g his lighter side charater at the start of the number 23 was sorta humorous.

That being said i think actors should be applauded for trying different roles in fact i think if he hadn't done the number 23, i personally wouldn't be looking forward as much to his comedic return.

A note on the book:
I'm hoping they really capture the spirit of the book in this film. About how saying yes can have bad effects. I am sad they look like in that trailer they have changed the main characters inspiration for this journey. In the book F.Y.I it was a man on the bus after the tube hadn't been running. And unassuming meeting like that always makes for a better plot line i think.

I loved the book. This film looks like it's going to suck balls.
This may seem like an over-coarse reaction, but read the book and you might understand. When I found out the film was being made I was already dubious about what they'd do to the book, and this trailer has made it apparent that the film will go above and beyond the levels of butchery i expected. I think i may have died a little inside seeing this, and unless they can release some seriously redeeming footage before this film comes out I don't think i'll be seeing it. I love the book too much and I don't want to hate Jim Carrey, i really don't. But that's what will happen if I subject myself to the injustice that looks likely to be this film.
Hollywood Bastards.
