‘Meet Dave’ web reviews

Chances are high that Brian Robbins’ new comedy “Meet Dave” is going to ruin my Saturday afternoon, but I’ll let you know how it went once I get back from the screening. From what I read about the flick on the Web, it really doesn’t look that good. Let’s see what the online critics have to say about Eddie’s latest escapade. As usual, click on names below to read the full reviews.
• Cinematical’s William Goss: “It's by no means good, or hilarious, or even inspired, but the effects are convincing enough, the messages are nice and all, and every last performer has seen worse days (and chances are we've already rented those).”
• George Roush at LatinoReview: “Finally crawling out of whatever comedy deprived hole he’s been in, Murphy is the actor that gives an excellent physical comedic performance. His facial expressions and awkwardness as the robot Dave are hilarious.”
• Collider.com’s Brian Orndorf: “I wouldn't label "Meet Dave" a reputation-revitalizing turn for the actor, but the picture is admirably competent, delightfully silly, and absent a majority of repulsions typically associated with an Eddie Murphy family film.”
• Kevin Carr at FilmSchoolRejects: “The dialogue is terrible, and the script is thrown together like pig slop in a trough. Word is that Eddie Murphy didn’t even make it to the premier of this film… and I can’t say that I blame him.”
• Cinema Blend’s Josh Tyler: “Look, ‘Meet Dave’ is exactly what you’d expect from any modern Eddie Murphy film. It’s a pile of generic crap which manages, in spite of itself, to deliver a few laughs.”
Ready to meet Dave? No hard feelings if you don’t.
