Ben Kingsley goes evil in ‘Prince of Persia’

benkinglseynews2.jpgSir Ben Kinglsey is the latest actor to join Mike Newell’s adaptation of the popular Ubisoft video game “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time,” according to Variety.

Kingsley will jump into the role of the film’s main villain Nizam, who plans to kill his brother King Shahrman and blame the murder on Prince Dastan, played by Jake Gyllenhaal.

Alfred Molina and Gemma Arterton co-star in the film directed by Mike Newell, whose credits include “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” and “Love in the Time of Cholera.”

Production on the action adventure is scheduled to start in Morocco this summer, with the release of the film planned for 2009.

Kingsley is quite the busy man these days. He can currently be seen opposite John Cusack in “War, Inc.” He also stars in four films awaiting release, including “The Wackness” and “The Love Guru.” Kingsley is also currently filming Martin Scorcese’s “Shutter Island.”
