Ratner wants ‘Beverly Hills Cop 4’ to go PG

brettratnercop4.jpgMaybe you’re not at all excited about the news that Brett Ratner will direct the fourth “Beverly Hills Cop” flick, but if you are among those who think that brining back Axel Foley to the big screen is a fabulous idea, think again.

In a conversation with MTV, Ratner said he wants to revamp the franchise and shoot for a PG rating (the previous three movies were rated R). Wait a minute! PG? You read right indeed, Det. Axel Foley will stop cursing and only engage in kid-friendly activities.

Okay, resurrection Foley for a fourth “Beverly Hills Cop” is wrong already, but stripping the character of all his funny qualities to please a younger audience is just embarrassing. No, it’s quite simply ridiculous.

I can’t say I was overly excited when I heard they are already developing the flick, but now all hope is lost.
