Emmy Rossum boards ‘Dare’
Actress Emmy Rossum has signed on to star in “Dare,” an independent drama based on a short film of the same title, according to Variety. Written by David Brind and directed by Adam Salky, the filmmakers behind the short, the film follows a high school boy who’s secretly in love with one of his male classmates.
Rossum will join a cast including Ashley Springer, Alan Cumming and Tricia Mara. She most recently starred in Wolfgang Peterson’s “Poseidon” and has just wrapped filming “Dragonball” for director James Wong.
In case her name and the picture above still don’t ring a bell, Rossum also played one of the lead characters in Joel Schumacher’s “The Phantom of the Opera.” She also starred opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in “The Day After Tomorrow.”
I haven’t seen the short film and don’t exactly know what part she’s going to play in this, but it’s good to see her taking on more projects. She’s got talent indeed, and she’s probably the only one who saved Schumacher’s “Phantom” from disaster.
