Lionsgate brings ‘Transporter 3’ to North America

transporter3news.jpgYeah, Jason Statham is still driving. Lionsgate today announced it has acquired the rights to distribute Olivier Megaton’s upcoming action spectacle “The Transporter 3” in North America.

Written by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, the film follows the adventures of Frank Martin (Statham), a professional transporter who always winds up in the middle of a perilous conspiracy.

Produced by Besson's EuropaCorp., the film has recently wrapped principal photography and is currently in post-production.

I personally enjoyed the first “Transporter” and pretty much hated the sequel, which is why I can only walk into this third installment with the lowest possible expectations.

If there’s one Jason Statham sequel I’m really looking forward to, it’s “Crank 2: High Voltage,” although there’s a big risk they mess up that one as well. We’ll have to wait until next year to find out.
