Katherine McPhee goes indie in ‘Storyteller’
Former “American Idol” contestant Katherine McPhee has signed on to star in Robert A. Masciantonio’s upcoming indie drama “The Storyteller,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film stars Wes Bentley as a writer whose life takes a drastic turn after the death of his father. McPhee plays Bentley’s assistant, who starts to question whether his muse and narrator are real or just part of his imagination.
McPhee will next be seen in Fred Wolf’s comedy “The House Bunny,” starring Anna Faris as a Playboy bunny who takes over a sorority after being kicked out of Hefner’s mansion.
I generally have nothing against singers plunging into a film career, provided they show considerable effort. Norah Jones proved she has acting skills in “My Blueberry Nights,” so I am more than willing to give McPhee a chance.
Except, I seriously doubt she’ll be able to win me over in “The House Bunny.” Everything about that flick just seems completely wrong.
