‘School of Rock’ sequel ready to take stage?

mikewhitesor2.jpgLast month Jack Black officially stated he would love to return in the role of Dewey Finn in a sequel to Richard Linklater’s “School of Rock,” and this weekend screenwriter Mike White spilled more details about the possibility of “School of Rock 2.”

Aceshowbiz reports White confessed at a panel discussion at the Los Angeles Film Festival that he’s already finished the draft for the sequel. "I actually just completed a draft of what's potentially the sequel," he said.

At this stage, however, no one is sure the movie will actually get made. White further revealed he turned in his script and is now waiting for a response.

While I am not sure whether a follow-up is such a good idea, I do hope Linklater will return to direct in case the flick is given the green light. I completely trust White as a clever screenwriter with plenty of great ideas, but can he really add new juice to the whole “School of Rock” thing?

The first film did a decent job at the domestic box office, scoring a total haul of $81.2 million. What do you think? Should the fake Ned Schneebly return to the stage for a second round?
