I think it’s pretty safe to say that we’ll never get to see “Nailed” in theaters or on DVD. After shutting down and then resuming production three times over the past months, filming for David O. Russell’s new film has now been suspended for the fourth time.
Variety reports several crew members did not show up for work Friday because they weren’t paid. In early May, production was shut down because of a
lack of funds to pay the actors. Yep, Capitol Films is apparently running out of moola.
Just in case the film will ever make it through principal photography, here’s what it’s about: the plot focuses on a waitress who, after getting a nail lodged in her head, falls for a charming senator who promises to help her out.
The film is starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel. Russell is directing a script he co-wrote with Kristin Gore.
I don’t know whether the script is worth anything, but I always liked Russell’s awkward films (“I Heart Huckabees” and “Three Kings”). I just hope they’ll come up with the money soon so everybody can go back to work and try to finish this project for good.
