Production on ‘Nailed’ shuts down again

nailedshutsdown.jpgI think it’s pretty safe to say that we’ll never get to see “Nailed” in theaters or on DVD. After shutting down and then resuming production three times over the past months, filming for David O. Russell’s new film has now been suspended for the fourth time.

Variety reports several crew members did not show up for work Friday because they weren’t paid. In early May, production was shut down because of a lack of funds to pay the actors. Yep, Capitol Films is apparently running out of moola.

Just in case the film will ever make it through principal photography, here’s what it’s about: the plot focuses on a waitress who, after getting a nail lodged in her head, falls for a charming senator who promises to help her out.

The film is starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel. Russell is directing a script he co-wrote with Kristin Gore.

I don’t know whether the script is worth anything, but I always liked Russell’s awkward films (“I Heart Huckabees” and “Three Kings”). I just hope they’ll come up with the money soon so everybody can go back to work and try to finish this project for good.

I worked on the film in Columbia. Due to funding issues, they ended up wrapping the production there with one scene left to shoot: the scene where Biel gets the nail in the head. Word around the campfire is that this scene will be shot at a later date probably in California once more funding becomes available.

I worked on film in Columbia received a letter this weekend that due to funding would have to contact Captitol to get paid. That's kinda bad you worked for days and no pay probably won't get it out of Capitol either.

My D worked on the film several times in April, May and June. She received her pay every time, though sometimes it was about a month after filming. Everyone I know has been paid by now.

We furnished equipment on "Nailed", and they still owe us over $20,000, and obviously have no intentions of paying. I understand the producer has an expensive new office in Century City, yet has not bothered to pay vendors.

That's funny. I'm a real estate agent that was contacted to find housing for the stars and the director prior to shooting. From meeting the people in charge they seemed disorganized. Not surprised the filming had so many problems.
