Timur Bekmambetov talks ‘Wanted’

timurint.jpgWe’re less than a week away from the release of Timur Bekmambetov’s anticipated action spectacle “Wanted,” and my expectations couldn’t be higher. After what I’ve seen in all those awesome clips and trailers over the past weeks, this flick quite simply has to rock.

Based on a comic book series, the film focuses on Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy), who’s a bored nobody until he finds out his father was one of the greatest assassins who ever lived. Before he knows it, Wes is pulled into a dangerous world and trained to become a ruthless killer himself.

SuperHeroHype.com had a little chat with the director, whose credits include the spectacular Russian action flicks “Night Watch” and “Day Watch.” Bekmambetov talks a bit about the comic the film is based on, but he also discusses about the direction, action and cast.

Here’s a little preview from the interview at SuperHeroHype.com:
“I storyboarded everything and I even pre-vised… it was a very unique process what we had. We made a pre-visualization, like animatics, of different action scenes, and then the writers incorporated these scenes into the script. It was like backwards but I think it's a really good process and I think I will use it next time, too, because nobody can imagine these things.”
