Microsoft and Epic Games’ third-person action game “Gears of War” is coming to the big screen, and Len Wiseman is on board to direct the project, according to Variety. The game follows a bloody battle between humans and ruthless race of creatures known as the Locust Horde. The central character is Marcus Fenix, a former war hero who leads his squad through the war against the Locust forces.
Stuart Beattie wrote a first draft for the film, which Chris Morgan (“The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift”) is updating.
Wiseman also directed “Underworld” and “Underworld: Evolution.” He most recently helmed the Bruce Willis vehicle “Live Free or Die Hard.”
So what do you guys think about this one? I have to admit I never played the game before. Does it have big-screen potential?

extreme potential! this is the most popular shooting game for the xbox360 and there are millions of fans out there. The campaign mode in Gears of War 2 almost plays like a movie, it has an epic storyline with great characters and an amazing concept. Just hope the movie can really do the games justice, for me the street fighter and resident evil flicks in the past havent been a bit of a let down, so i hope this movie can ''hit the nail on the head'' so to speak.
