katherineheiglescape.jpgKatherine Heigl has signed on to star in the big-screen adaptation of Carolyn Jessop’s memoir “Escape,” according to Variety.

In her book, Jessop recounts her childhood in the polygamist sect of the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints. At the age of 18, she was forced into a marriage with a 50-year-old man; at age 35, she fled with her eight children.

Jessop is also known for testifying against polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs.

Heigl rose to fame after starring opposite Seth Rogen in Judd Apatow’s “Knocked Up.” She recently starred in Anne Fletcher’s romantic comedy “27 Dresses” and will next be seen in Robert Luketic’s “The Ugly Truth.”

I have to admit I always look forward to seeing Katherine Heigl on the screen. There’s just something about her that makes her an utterly likeable actress. She even managed to pull off a charming performance in the weak “27 Dresses.”
