Cinematical interviews M. Night Shyamalan

mnightshyamalan.jpgLike him or hate him, M. Night Shyamalan is one of only a few popular directors who write and helm all of their feature films. I don’t appreciate every project he’s tackled so far, but the man’s got an interesting vision, no doubt about that.

Cinematical’s Eric Kohn got a chance to talk to the Indian director, whose latest flick “The Happening” opens this Friday. The interview is quite interesting, covering Shyamalan’s career, his philosophy as a filmmaker and his plans for the future.

Here’s a little excerpt from Shyamalan’s response to his popularity at Cinematical:

“I have found that if I stay really true to myself -- in terms of the stuff that's cheesy, the stuff that's flawed -- the more it's me, the better it's going to be in the long run for my career. I don't want to pretend I'm any cooler or smarter than I am.”
