Hugh Grant and Ziyi Zhang are set to star in Susanne Bier’s upcoming Universal Pictures comedy “Lost for Words,” according to Variety. The film follows a British actor (Grant) who is offered a role in a movie directed by a Chinese filmmaker (Zhang). Although he’s first attracted to the director’s flirtatious translator, he soon realizes he has stronger feelings for the helmer instead.
Susanne Bier, who recently helmed “Things We Lost in the Fire,” is directing a script written by Jamie Curtis and Dan Mazer ("Borat").
Last time we saw Hugh Grant on the big screen was in last year’s “Music and Lyrics.” Zhang has been a little busier lately, wrapping principal photography for Jonas Akerlund’s “The Horsemen” and Kaige Chen’s biopic “Mei Lanfang.”
Danish filmmaker Susanne Bier usually directs solid, serious family dramas, so I’m particularly interested in seeing what she does with a lighter genre. With Grant on board in the lead role, what’s there to fear?
