2008 MTV Movie Award nominees announced
“Superbad” topped the list of this year’s MTV Movie Award nominees with five nominations, including best movie and best comedic performance for actor Jonah Hill. Greg Mottola’s teen comedy starring Hill and Michael Cera will go up against Jason Reitman’s surprise hit “Juno,” Michael Bay’s “Transformers” and Will Smith’s action hit “I Am Legend.” The Nicholas Cage adventure “National Treasure: Book of Secrets” and Gore Verbinski’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” will also fight for the best picture award.
In the category for best male performance, Will Smith will compete with Shia LeBeouf, Denzel Washington, Matt Damon and Michael Cera. Ellen Page and Katherine Heigl, among others, have scored nominations for best female performance.
Other categories include best villain, best kiss and best fight. In a new category, voters get to pick the best summer movie so far. The 2008 MTV Movie Awards will air live on June 1, 2008 at 8 p.m. EST.
