Trailer Review: "The Rocker"
Our quick thoughts: Peter Cattaneo is not necessarily a well-known director in Hollywood, but he’s the guy who directed the 1997 British hit comedy “Full Monty.” Now he returns with “The Rocker,” a comedy about a failed drummer who gets a second shot by joining his nephew’s high school rock band.
Fox Atomic Tuesday released the new trailer for the film, and while it certainly doesn’t look that hilarious, it sure doesn’t look that bad either. Lead actor Rainn Wilson is doing a fabulous job over at TV’s “The Office,” and I am convinced he’s got talent enough to rule over a big-screen comedy.
The trailer for “The Rocker” promises quite a bit of slapstick and silly dialogue, but some of the scenes look funny indeed. I like the general idea of a 1980s rocker getting another shot at fame by joining a rock band run by kids. Wilson will obviously be the one dropping the funkiest lines, so let’s hope he pull this thing off. Sure looks like it, judging from the footage below.
“The Rocker” will rock you (if you so choose) Aug. 1, 2008. Check out the trailer HERE or below.
Freaky Quote: “You don’t ask your parents for permission to rock!” – Rainn Wilson
