Trailer Review: “The Dark Knight”

newdarktrailer.jpg

Our quick thoughts: We’ve waited long enough, but now it’s finally here! Of course, I’m referring to the brand-new “The Dark Knight” trailer, which found its way to the Web earlier today. Loaded with new footage, speedier action shots and more story, this marvelous theatrical trailer makes Christopher Nolan’s upcoming sequel to “Batman Begins” look even more brilliant.

“The Dark Knight” is probably the blockbuster I’m most excited about this summer, and this incredible 2 1/2 –minute trailer certainly delivers the goods, including plenty of cool stuff to increase expectations even more. Most importantly, it gives you more Joker and more Harvey Dent, who in one short shot has already mutated into Two-Face. You won’t see a clear shot of his face, but if you look closely enough, you can spot the start of the scars on his chin.

What else is there to say? Check out the new trailer in high-def right HERE, or enjoy the YouTube version just below. It’s worth it. The Batman is coming on July 18, 2008. Hey, that’s the day after my birthday. What a treat!

This is an amazing trailer. I was glad to see more of Dent and Rachel Dawes (hooray for Maggie Gyllenhal!), but most importantly more of the Joker. It maintains the dark mood of the first, but adds just enough humor to keep me from therapy. And it doesn't show too much: there's still plenty of mystery left for July 18th.

It's funny that this one comes out the day after your birthday: the first one came out the day after mine back in 2005.
