Trailer Review: "Hancock"

hancocktrailerreview.jpgOur quick thoughts: If the movie’s going to be as much fun as the trailer, “Hancock” is bound for incredible success. Columbia premiered the brand-new three-minute (!) trailer for the upcoming Will Smith action comedy yesterday, and let me tell you, it looks fabulous. Smith looks like the perfect actor for the role of the homeless superhero who creates chaos wherever he steps in to help.

I really enjoy the idea of bum with superpowers struggling to repair his damaged image. The new trailer points toward a hilarious story line equipped with tons of impressive action sequences, most of which look really amazing. Peter Berg is certainly someone who can pull this thing off, and with Will Smith, Jason Bateman and Charlize Theron on his side, I really don’t know what could go wrong.

Sure, the film may suffer from cheap screenwriting, but the trailer at least promises explosive fun and visually captivating material. Watch out for all those cars that go airborne Michael Bay-style. “Hancock” will hit theaters July 2, 2008. Enjoy the trailer HERE or below.

Freaky Quote: "Fellas, listen. Give yourselves up quietly." Will Smith

I think this trailer is too long and may reveal too much. Granted I don't know what exactly will happen, but I feel like some of the mystery has been sucked out of the movie for me now. I'll probably still see it, but I wish they would learn to hold back in their marketing these days.
