Michael Bay is set to produce a film version of Hasbro’s popular game “Ouija Board” via his production company Platinum Dunes, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Plot details have yet to be announced. What we do know about the film at this stage is that the board game will play a central role in the main story line. Apparently, the project will not take the approach of “Jumanji,” in which an entire game came to life.
For those not familiar with the game, it includes a board with letters, numbers and signs via which players can supposedly receives messages from the dead.
Bay’s Platinum Dunes is currently working on the “Friday the 13th” remake. The company also recently started post-production on “The Unborn,” a horro thriller written and directed by David S. Goyer.
I personally enjoy Bay’s action flicks most of the time, but I honestly have a hard time imagining him produce a flick based on a spiritual board game. I bet we’ll see more Hasbro games coming to the big screen in the near future.
