Hannah Montana fans rejoice! Filming is now officially underway for Walt Disney Pictures’ anticipated family flick “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” the first feature film starring ultra-popular singer and actress Miley Cyrus.

Based on Disney’s famous TV series, the main story line focuses on Miley Stewart, a teenager who leads a secret life as a pop star. As her popularity threatens to take over her life, Miley decides to return to her hometown of Crowley Corners, Tenn., where she hopes to rediscover herself.  

Comingsoon.net reports via Walt Disney that principal photography will take place in Los Angeles and Nashville, Tenn. Peter Chelsom directs a script penned by Dan Berendsen. Chelsom’s directing credits include “Serendipity” and “Shall We Dance?”

Joining Cyrus onscreen are Melora Hardin, Margo Martindale, Emily Osment and Billy Ray Cyrus. The movie slated for a spring 2009 release.
