Daily shorts: Jack Black back with ‘School of Rock 2’?
• LatinoReview says several sources have confirmed Beyonce Knowles is in negotiations to sing the title song of the new James Bond flick “Quantum of Solace,” which opens Nov. 7, 2008. Amy Winehouse was originally expected to record the song, but she dropped out a few weeks ago. • Dominic Sena’s action thriller “Whiteout” has been scheduled for a Sept. 19 theatrical release, according to ShockTillYouDrop. The flick stars Kate Beckinsale as a U.S. marshal who hunts down a killer in Antarctica. Sena also directed “Gone in 60 Seconds.”
• Sony Pictures Classics is in talks to acquiring distribution rights for “Tyson,” James Toback’s documentary about boxing legend Mike Tyson. The film premiered in Cannes last week and takes a look at the often troubled life of the former heavyweight champion. (The Hollywood Reporter)
• It’s been five years since Jack Black rocked the stage with a bunch of high school kids in “The School of Rock,” but the actor is now talking about the possibility of a sequel, according to Film-Industry.biz. A script is already completed, and Black said he would love to return as Dewey Finn.
