Mathieu Kassovitz to direct 'Rebellion and 'MNP'
Mathieu Kassovitz is a busy man. The French director is set to direct “Rebellion” and “MNP” via his own production company MNP Enterprise, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Kassovitz will direct and star in “Rebellion,” a war drama focusing on the 1988 clash between French soldiers and tribal people in New Caledonia. Production is scheduled to kick off at the end of this year.
Next, he will tackle “MNP,” a sci-fi adventure set on a space station. Plot details are being kept under wraps for now, but the flick will star two U.S. actors, among an international cast. Production won’t kick off until 2011.
Kassovitz has just completed post-production for his latest sci-fi thriller “Babylon A.D.,” starring Vin Diesel as a mercenary who escorts a woman from Russia to China. The film is slated for a U.S. release in late August.
After rising to fame in France with films such as “La Haine” and “Les Rivieres pourpres,” Kassovitz took on several projects in the U.S., directing 2003’s thriller “Gothika” and starring in Steven Spielberg’s 2005 drama “Munich.”
