Trailer Review: "Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor”

mummytrailerreview.jpg

Our quick thoughts: I’ve never been a huge fan of “The Mummy” flicks, but this first teaser trailer for Rob Cohen’s upcoming sequel “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” delivers the goods. Whether the flick will captivate audiences remains to be seen, but this first footage promises yet another round of grand special effects, tons of action and a lot of creepy creatures.

Rob Cohen messed up big time with his previous action flick “Stealth,” but he may actually be able to pull this one off. This first trailer is fairly entertaining and even fun at times, and some images even reminded me of Jet Li’s glorious action adventure “Hero.” I’m glad Cohen brought back Brendan Fraser, who seems to be in great shape judging by his appearance in this teaser.

Trailers can be deceiving, which is why I still remain skeptical about this third installment. But I do admit these first images look exciting enough to check it out. “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” opens everywhere Aug. 1, 2008. Watch the trailer HERE or below.
