Corddry snatches lead role in ‘A’

robcorddrynewstake1.jpgActor Rob Corddry has signed on to star in the lead role of New Line Cinema’s upcoming action comedy “Project A,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“The Daily Show” correspondent is set to play a man trained by the U.S. government to become the world’s biggest idiot. Etan Cohen (not to e confused with Ethan Coen), one of the writers of Ben Stiller’s upcoming comedy “Tropic Thunder,” is penning the screenplay.

Corddry has appeared in a number of small roles on the big screen before, including “The Heartbreak Kid” and “Semi-Pro.” He can currently be seen in “Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay” and “What Happens in Vegas.”

“Project A” marks his first time as lead actor in a major Hollywood production. "I am hoping this will break my cherry, as it were," Corddry told The Hollywood Reporter.

Most recently, Corddry has joined the supporting cast of Oliver Stone’s upcoming George W. Bush biopic “W,” playing White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer.

No director has been hired yet, but Ben Stiller is producing the flick along with Stuart Cornfeld.
