Daily shorts: ‘Chipmunks 2’ and ‘Madagascar 2’ details

• For those of you adoring those singing chipmunks, “Alvin and the Chipmunks 2” will return to the big screen on March 19, 2010. (20th Century Fox)

• DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. and IMAX Corporation announced Monday they will release “Madagascar: Escape to Africa” in IMAX on Nov. 7, 2008.

• According to MTV, filmmakers are already thinking about shooting several sequels to “Twilight” back to back. The first film, which tells the story of a teenage girl falling for a vampire, is due in theaters Dec. 12, 2008

• Variety reports Paramount Pictures bought “From Zero to Sixty,” a pitch for a comedy developed by Steve Martin. The project is supposed to reunite him with actress Diane Keaton, with whom he worked on “Father of the Bride.”

• Actual box office numbers confirm “What Happens in Vegas” soared past “Speed Racer” this past weekend at the North American box office with $20.1 million. “Speed Racer” took home only $18.6 million. (Variety)
