Trailer Review: “The X-Files: I Want to Believe”

Our quick thoughts: As a hard-core fan of the series, I have to admit I’m overly excited about the release of Chris Carter’s upcoming “The X-Files: I Want to Believe,” the second feature film based on the popular TV series starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. After weeks of speculating about plot details and watching new stills pop up on the Web on a weekly basis, a first teaser trailer has finally arrived.

And yes, it looks fantastic. I’m glad they managed to tell people a little more about the story without revealing too much. Although still quite short, the teaser spends the first half building up the suspense and giving away clues. Then we get to enjoy that wonderful “X-Files” tune, and Mulder and Scully appear on the screen looking better than ever. The rest I’ll let you discover for yourselves below.

“The X-Files: I Want to Believe” is not a direct continuation of the series, meaning there’s no alien conspiracy or intricate plot twists only fans of the show will be able to understand. Carter and his team assured us though that the film is connected to some of the old episodes. The film opens everywhere July 25, 2008. Doesn’t it feel great to have Mulder and Scully back on the big screen?
