New poster for ‘Babylon A.D.’

Yes, Vin Diesel is still acting, and in case you wondered why his name didn’t show up that much in recent Hollywood news, he’s been away last year shooting Mathieu Kassovitz’s upcoming sci-fi spectacle “Babylon A.D.” IMP today posted a brand-new poster for the film, which debuts in Europe on Aug. 27 and opens in the U.S. two days later.

Based on the novel by Maurice G. Dantec, the film follows Vin Diesel in the role of Thoorop, a mercenary who agrees to escort a young woman from Russia to China. What he doesn’t know is that she hosts a precious organism wanted by a ruthless cult. Michelle Yeoh, Gerard Depardieu, Lambert Wilson and Charlotte Rampling co-star.

An official trailer has not yet been released, but over on Allocine.fr, you can check out some footage from the film, accompanied by an interesting introduction by Kassovitz (in French, however). As much as I hated him for screwing up big time in his previous flick “Gothika,” I have to admit the sequences in that clip look spectacular. Let’s hope for the best. For now, enjoy the poster.
