"The Spirit" outdoor posters hit the web

spiritoutdoorsmall.jpg

SuperHeroHype today released three new outdoor posters for Lionsgate's upcoming adaptation of Will Eisner's comic book "The Spirit," which is directed by Frank Miller, the creator of "Sin City" and "300." The story centers on rookie cop Denny Colt (played by Gabriel Macht), who mysteriously returns from the dead to take down crime in Central City. His worst enemy is the ruthless Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson), who plots to destroy Central City for good.

Besides Macht and Jackson, "The Spirit" stars an A-list cast, including Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, Jaime King and Paz Vega. I have to admit this new artwork looks quite intriguing. The whole thing strongly resembles the style of the "Sin City" posters, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I'm definitely up for more Frank Miller action and style, and judging by these first teaser posters, that's exactly what we can expect. "The Spirit" is currently in post-production and is scheduled to hit theaters Jan. 16, 2009.
