In today's news take, we'll give you some casting updates on "Terminator 4" and "Crank 2." Also, Frank Miller is considering bringing yet another one of his own comic books to the big screen. In other news, a former "Grey's Anatomy" star will clebrate his return to the big screen. Enjoy.

Former ‘Grey’ actor to return to big screen
Isaiah Washington has signed on to star alongside Forest Whitaker in Tim Story’s upcoming post-Katrina sports drama produced by the Weinstein Co., according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Written by Robert Eisele and Greg Allen Howard, and based on true events, the film focuses on a high school basketball coach from Louisiana, who one year after Hurricane Katrina, assembles a team of players and leads them to the state championships.

Washington is best known for his role as Dr. Preston Burke on TV’s “Grey’s Anatomy.” He exited the show in 2007 after his contract was not renewed and recently guest-starred on “Bionic Woman.”

Tim Story made his directorial debut on the big screen with “Barbershop” in 2002. His credits also include “Taxi” and the two “Fantastic Four” films.

Whitaker was last seen in David Ayer’s “Street Kings.”

‘Terminator 4’ cast and release update
Hardly anybody thought it would ever happen, but production for the fourth installment in the popular “Terminator” series is actually moving forward. The Hollywood Reporter announced earlier today that Moon Bloodgood is in final talks to take over the female lead in “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins.”

Bloodgood will be joining Christian Bale and Anton Yelchin in the McG-directed sequel, which Warner Bros. is planning to release in summer 2009. Production is scheduled to kick off in May.

Bloodgood’s big screen credits include “Eight Below” and 2007’s “Pathfinder.” She also starred in NBC’s series “Journeyman.” She is currently filming “Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.”

McG is best known for helming the “Charlie’s Angels” films. He most recently directed “We Are Marshall.”

‘Crank 2’ adds new member to cast
Bai Ling has signed on to star in “Crank: High Voltage,” the sequel to Lionsgate’s 2006 action spectacle “Crank,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. She will be joining returning cast members Jason Statham, Amy Smart and Dwight Yoakam.

Statham will reprise his role as Chev Chelios, who races against time as he tracks down a Chinese mobster who has stolen his heart and replaced it with ticker that requires jolts of electricity to keep operating. Ling will play a hooker who decides to help him out.

Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine return as directing team. Ling’s acting credits include Richard Kelly’s “Southland Tales” and Spike Lee’s “She Hate Me.”

‘Sin City’ creator to direct ‘Hard Boiled’?
According to MTV News, Frank Miller is thinking about a big screen adaptation of “Hard Boiled,” his own comic book series.

Miller is currently wrapping up production for “The Spirit,” an adaptation of Will Eisner’s graphic novels. He previously co-directed the big screen version of “Sin City,” which he also created.

Miller said he’s been discussing the idea of brining “Hard Boiled” to the silver screen with producer Deborah Del Prete. He would love to helm if they decide to go along with it.

The story of “Hard Boiled” focuses on an insurance investigator who finds out he’s also an assassin. Miller’s comic book is not related to John Woo’s action spectacle of the same title.
