Trailer Review: “Quarantine”

quarantinepic1.jpg

Our quick thoughts: Based on a screenplay by Jaume Balaguero, “Quarantine” tells the horrifying story of TV reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carter) and her cameraman (Steve Harris), who are trapped in a Los Angeles home that has been quarantined by the CDC after the breakout of an unknown virus. After the quarantine is finally lifted, the only evidence of what happened is the crew’s videotape.

The first teaser trailer promises thrilling action and quite a solid dose of suspense, although the film looks very much like a combination of “28 Days Later” and “Cloverfield.” I really like the concept of the hand-held camera in horror thrillers, and telling the story of “Quarantine” from the perspective of a news crew is a great idea.

“Quarantine” is scheduled to hit theaters Oct. 17, 2008.
