"Superhero Movie"

Seen on:

The players: Director: Craig Mazin, Writer: Craig Mazin, Cast: Drake Bell, Sara Paxton, Christopher McDonald, Pamela Anderson, Tracy Morgan

Facts of interest: None whatsoever.

The plot: A high school loser develops superhuman powers after being bitten by a dragonfly. You can imagine the rest...

Our quick thoughts: Honestly, there’s not much I can or want to say about “Superhero Movie,” an offensive, racist and thoroughly embarrassing flick that should never have been released in theaters (or anywhere else, for that matter). Produced by the unskilled guys who brought us the nonsensical “Scary Movie” films,  this latest piece of Hollywood trash focuses on a high school loser who develops superhuman abilities after being bitten by a genetically modified dragonfly.

“Superhero Movie” takes immense pleasure in spoofing recent action blockbusters such as “Batman Begins,” “Spider-Man” and “X-Men,” but every cinemagoer with at least a minimum of intellectual capacity should know there’s nothing funny about a movie in which a hero pees in his pants, a snail sexually abuses a high school kid and an old lady farts a total of 20 times within, well… 30 seconds. That’s exactly what you get for the price of admission: crass humor, tiresome action and an ideal demonstration of cinematic stupidity.

What else is there to say about this failure? The production design lacks sophistication, and James L. Venable’s simplistic score couldn’t be more irritating. Furthermore, Craig Mazin’s direction is mediocre at best, and lead actors Drake Bell, Sara Paxton and Christopher McDonald deliver pitiful performances as hero, love interest and villain, respectively. And as far as Leslie Nielsen’s appearance is concerned, I won’t even bother saying anything.

Freaky quote: "You’re kneeling on my crotch!” – Leslie Nielsen

The final word: If you haven’t guessed it by now, I do not recommend this film under any circumstances. While “Superhero Movie” is not necessarily as boring as, let's say, Scary Movie 4,” it’s undoubtedly three times as disgusting. You know what? That’s it. I’m done wasting my time on this. Down with Dragonfly!

You can attempt to justify it all you like. There was nothing offensive in my posts. You're confusing 'offensive' with something that's critical of your comments. You're free to criticize anybody elses work - except your own it turns out.

Hypocrite. If you delete these comments they will will be posted on other sites - showing your hypocrisies.

Mike, this is not the only website on which you will find a harsh review of this film. I have my opinion, and you have yours, yes. If you have the time to comment all day on several sites, I will certainly not stop you. Have fun with it. I would however appreciate it if you kept your language down a bit. It's as simple as that.

By the way...on your audio review of Superhero Movie, you sound like something out of a Bugs Bunny Cartoon...
Go get'em boy!
