A questionable first teaser poster for Chris Carter’s upcoming “X-Files” sequel popped up on the Web a couple of days ago, but I am happy to announce it is not a fake. That’s right, the poster is official, and can be found on display in many theaters nationwide as of today.
In case you haven’t seen it yet, it shows David Duchovny’s and Gillian Anderson’s shadows forming a large X. While details about the plot remain Carter’s best kept secret, he and co-writer Frank Spotnitz recently confirmed the as of now untitled “X-Files” film is a stand-alone feature with no immediate connection to the series.
As far as the title is concerned, Carter said he knows what he would like it to be, but Fox apparently has another idea. That’s not a whole lot of information, but even as a hardcore “X-Files” fan, I have to admit I don’t really care. For once, I wouldn’t mind walking into the theater clueless about what the film is going to be about. I’m excited enough now that the highly anticipated sequel to 1998’s “Fight the Future” is only four months away.
“X-Files” fans, it’s time to unite again!
Check out the teaser poster below.
