“Stop-Loss” cast interview and film clip
Opening nationwide today, “Stop-Loss” tells the story of a young U.S. soldier (played by Ryan Phillippe) who returns from Iraq and refuses to go back to duty when the Army needs him for another round of battle.
Directed by Kimberly Pierce (“Boys Don’t Cry”), “Stop-Loss” also stars Channing Tatum, Abbie Cornish, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Timothy Olyphant. While a bunch of recent war films failed to score big at the box office, “Stop-Loss” relies heavily on a young and popular cast to lure audiences into theatres this weekend.
I browsed the Web a little bit and stumbled across an interesting interview with the cast. In the clip, Chuck the Movieguy asks Phillippe about his character and discusses some of the film’s key scenes with Tatum. The guys also talk about Pierce’s ability to create a realistic environment on the big screen.
Whether “Stop-Loss” will beat box office favorite “21” remains to be seen, but what I’ve seen in the trailer so far definitely caught my attention. As long as Pierce avoids unnecessary sappiness, I’m sure I won’t have any objections.
Check out the interview, a short film clip and the official trailer below.
