Catherine Hardwicke won't direct 'Twilight' sequel

Sundays are usually not the days for big movie news, but this one certainly is big. As reported by Nikki Finke on her blog, Catherine Hardwicke will not return to direct the "Twilight" sequel "New Moon."

According to Finke's sources, Summit Entertainment fired Hardwicke because she was apparently "difficult" and "irrational" during the making of "Twilight."

The statement Finke got from Summit CEO Rob Friedman is this: "Catherine and Summit have agreed to part ways on the sequel because our visions are different."

Now the big question is, who will replace her? Will "New Moon" still start shooting this coming March, if that's true at all?

Hardwicke's directing credits also include "Thirteen," "Lords of Dogtown" and "The Nativity Story." Let me know below how you feel about this. Did you like Hardwicke's direction in "Twilight"?

The reason they chose to not use Catherine was because they wanted to release the movie in Late 2009, or Early 2010. Catherine's apparent time frame wasn't good enough for Summit, so they're looking at going with a director who can do it in their time frame.
