Ten Worst Films of 2008

As 2008 comes to a close, it's time for me to pick the flicks I hated most this year. It was pretty tough this year to pick these 10 primarily because I've seen so many films that sucked, but here's the final list:

10. College
Deb Hagan's "College" may not be the most disastrous film of 2008, but it sure stinks big time. This tale of three idiotic high school friends trying to hook up with girls during their first college visit is neither funny nor original, offering viewers nothing but scatological jokes, naked breasts and embarrassingly terrible dialogue. This one's a massive bore! Read more about it here.

9. An American Carol
While the idea of a right-wing comedy that pokes fun at Michael Moore and liberalism in the United States sounded mildly funny at first, David Zucker's "An American Carol" is nothing but a trashy slapstick comedy that suffers from an incredibly slow-moving plot and a solid dose of stupid gags. If you enjoy watching Kevin P. Farley getting slapped in pretty much every scene, this one's for you. If you don't, stay the hell away from this crap. Full review here.

8. Fool's Gold
I almost didn't make it through this one, primarily because it's one of the most boring flicks I've seen in years. Horrendous dialogue and a moronic main story line are just two of the many reasons why "Fool's Gold" fails miserably. Additionally, Matthew McConaughey and Kate Huson totally lack chemistry, which ruins the filmmakers' countless attempts to inject the film with romance. Don't be a fool - stay away from this one as well. Full review here.

 7. Disaster Movie
The title says it all. I've really had it with spoofs for a while, but no matter where you look, they just keep popping up. Of course, "Disaster Movie" is yet another one of these massive failures, trying to be funny but eventually failing to do so on so many levels. “Iron Man,” “Cloverfield,” “Enchanted,” “Juno” and “Jumper” are just a few of the films that receive the regular spoof treatment this time, but none of the jokes actually work. This is rotten Hollywood crap, my friends. More on this here.

 6. Meet Dave
Poor Eddie Murphy. What the heck made him agree to star in "Meet Dave," an vast insult of a movie filled with lame jokes, embarrassing physical comedy and bad acting? You know what, that sums it up pretty well. No need to waste any more words on this sucker. Full review here.

 5. First Sunday
Okay, Ice Cube was not that bad in "The Longshots," but in his previous comedy "First Sunday," he proved yet again that he simply hasn't got what it takes to do comedy. As "the first big stinker of 2008," this disastrous film features plenty of bad writing, horrible acting and cheesy speeches about the importance of family. I have nothing against inspirational films at all, but this is not the right way to do it. This one was another tough one to sit through. Full review here.

 4. Over Her Dead Body
Okay, now we really get to those films that probably all deserve the title of worst film of the year. Unbearable and utterly boring, "Over Her Dead Body" is stuffed with jokes that don't work, dialogue that can't be taken seriously, and lame performances that are as bland as a piece of toast. Eva Longoria may look nice and all in this film, but her attempts to sabotage her ex's new romance fail big time. What an unnecessary mess. Read more about it here.

 3. Superhero Movie
Total waste of time and money. That's all I have to say about "Superhero Movie." You can read more here.

 2. Strange Wilderness
I don't like violence, but I would love to punch the people who agreed to bring this movie to the big screen. Fred Wolf's wildlife comedy is repulsive at best, following two stupid friends on their quest to find Bigfoot. Scatological jokes and disgusting slapstick are abundant, but big laughs are nowhere to be found in this jungle. More here.

 1. The Haunting of Molly Hartley
Tada. Here is your winner! "The Haunting of Molly Hartley" is definitely the worst film I've seen all year. I mean, nothing works in this stinker. The acting is terrible, the tech aspects suck, the story is as lame as a horror story can be, and the film's plot is so boring and monotonous, it takes a whole lot of courage to sit through this thing without wanting to flee the premises. The good thing about it is that it'll never haunt you in your dreams. This is the kind of movie you already forget before it's even over. More here.

These films almost made the cut: The Love Guru, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, My Best Friend's Girl, Mirrors, Prom Night, College Road Trip, Witless Protection, One Missed Call and Nim's Island.
