Daily news dose: Fox to fight for 'Watchmen' delay; Jane to direct 'Commandos'

Here's your dose of quick news bits for Dec. 29, 2008...

• Screenwriter Todd Farmer is currently working on "Devil's Commandos," which Thomas Jane will direct and star in. The film is based on a story by Tim Bradstreet, who will also co-write the project. This is what Farmer told STYD: "'Devil's Commandos' is about a WWII commando unit sent on a rescue mission. Pretty straight forward. Except for the part where hell opens up and they have to fight Satan's army." (ShockTillYouDrop)

• Japanese filmmaker Yoji Yamada is gearing up to film "Otouto," a family drama that will star Tsurube Shofukutei and Sayuri Yoshinaga, among others. "Family ties are inseparable. The unreasonable, yet loving, and sometimes sad relationship of a family and siblings will be depicted through heartfelt laughter in this film," Yamada said in a statement. (The Hollywood Reporter)

• Now that 20th Century Fox has won the legal battle over the distribution rights of Warner's "Watchmen," the studio will apparently fight to have the film delayed. A trial will be held Jan 20. to decide what's going to happen with the movie eventually. A Warner Bros. attorney said a settlement is probably not going to happen (The Hollywood Reporter)

• The Hollywood Foreign Press Association today announced that Aaron Eckhart, Laurence Fishburne and Blake Lively will present at the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards Jan. 11, 2009. Simon Baker, Drew Barrymore, Glenn Close, Sacha Baron Cohen, Ricky Gervais, Jake Gyllenhaal, Salma Hayek, Jennifer Lopez, Amy Poehler and Seth Rogen are already on board.
