It's a busy day today, with five new flicks opening in wide release and some limited ones expanding. I hope to have all of them screened and reviewed by Sunday night. But first, let's see what the Web's critics have to say about David Fincher's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," starring Brad Pitt, Taraji P. Henson and Cate Blanchett.
• Cinematical's James Rocchi: "Get past the plot, the pitch, and the technique, and you can see it as a reminder that all we can do is live now."
• Josh Tyler at CinemaBlend: "It’s just that Benjamin Button is a tremendous downer, and a downer without any clear purpose."
• RopeOfSilicon's Brad Brevet: "For all its worth, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a masterpiece."
• Robert Fure at FilmSchoolRejects: "It’s the kind of movie that you step outside of the theater, acknowledge that it was good, and then immediately lose yourself in thought about how the film applied to your own life."
• Brian Orndorf at Collider: "There may not be the normal, anticipated dosage of sentiment to latch onto in this film, but in exchange for patience and a little faith, "Button" presents the exquisite weight of the human experience in a manner the screen rarely witnesses.
• Joblo's JimmyO: "I have to say, Fincher and Pitt are proving to be as wonderful of a match as Burton and Depp."

Spectacular film and a fantastic performance by, especially, Brad Pitt, but also Taraji P. Henson and Cate Blanchett!
David Fincher is a phenomenal filmmaker.
