First stills from Amenábar's 'Agora'

Remember Alejandro Amenábar? He's the guy who directed "Tesis," "The Others" and "Mar Adentro," among others, and his next project is "Agora," due in theaters Dec. 18, 2009.

IMDb describes the film as follows: A historical drama set in Roman Egypt, concerning a slave who turns to the rising tide of Christianity in the hopes of pursuing freedom while also falling in love with his master, the famous female philosophy professor and atheist Hypatia of Alexandria.

Cineblog recently posted two first pictures from the film, both showing Rachel Weisz as Hypatia. You can check out one above and the other one after the jump.

Also starring are Max Minghella, Oscar Isaac and Rupert Evans.
