'The Phantom' gets sequel

Fans of "The Phantom" - the purple man is back!

According to the Associated Press, someone in Australia is very eager to develop a follow-up to the 1996 flick. The project is titled "The Phantom Legacy," and it is expected to start shooting some time next year.

Screenwriter Tim Boyle told the AP the film will focus on what it means to run around as the Phantom. Meanwhile, producer Bruce Sherlock said it will be better than its predecessor. Of course he said that...

Other than that, the only thing we know is that the flick is budgeted at $87 million. "The Phantom" is based on a character created by Lee Falk. Billy Zane played the masked hero in the first film, which also starred Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The question is, how really wants to see another "Phantom"? Feel free to share your thoughts on this after the jump.
