Maybe. At least he's currently in negotiations to direct the sequel to Catherine Hardwicke's "Twilight," according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Summit Entertainment didn't confirm this yet, but Chris Weitz's name has been named plenty of times in recent Web stories about who will direct "New Moon."
As you may have heard, Hardwicke will not return for the follow-up. Summit released a statement recently citing scheduling as the main reason, but I still think they just fired her because they were unsatisfied with her result.
In the end, who cares anyway, right? As long as we get to see a better film than the first, I don't care who's directing.
Weitz, however, would be interesting choice. He and his brother Paul brought us "American Pie" and "About a Boy," a great film with Hugh Grant. Chris most recently directed "The Golden Compass."
