Poor Earth, how many times have you been destroyed on the big screen? Oh well, as long as it's only on the screen, I guess it's fun enough to watch, right?

The next director to take a stab at threatening the great planet we live on is Alex Proyas, director of "I, Robot." In his latest thriller "Knowing," Nicholas Cage heads out to prevent all kinds of catastrophic disasters.

It all starts with him finding a letter with numbers inside a time capsule at an elementary school. Soon enough, he discovers the letter predicts different kinds of catastrophes all over the world, which leads him to find out what the heck is going on.

A brand-new trailer for the action film popped up online earlier today, and you can check it out after the jump. I doubt we'll see anything really impressive in this thing, but then again, the footage below doesn't look that boring either.
