DreamWorks Animation's "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa" raced to the top spot of the North American box office this Friday with a stunning $17.4 million in ticket sales.
The sequel to the 2005 animated hit slashed its competition, beating its predecessor's Friday opening by $3.5 million.
Debuting in second place with $6.6 million was David Wain's new comedy "Role Models," in which Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott look after two lonely boys. "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" followed at No. 3 with $2.5 million.
At No. 4, Kevin Smith's "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" collected $2.2 million, lifting its domestic total to $16.6 million. Meanwhile, Clint Eastwood's "Changeling" took home $2.1 million at No. 5, reaching a total haul of $15.4 million.

Happy for Madagascar. Enjoyed the first one and look forward to their second adventure. Although it's a shame Changeling is a little behind because I have a feeling it's great stuff and Clint rarely get it wrong.
