Michael Crichton, 1942 - 2008

Michael Crichton, the creator of television’s success hit “ER” and author of several novels that made the big-screen transition, died Tuesday of cancer. He was 66.

One of Crichton’s most famous books is “Jurassic Park,” which Steven Spielberg turned into a worldwide cinematic phenomenon.

Other novels that made it to the big screen include “The Andromeda Strain,” “Rising Sun,” “Congo” and “Sphere.”

Over the years, Crichton also wrote several original screenplays, including “Runaway” and “Westworld,” which he directed. He also co-wrote “Twister.”
