Opening in only three markets, Marc Forster’s James Bond adventure “Quantum of Solace” topped the overseas box office this weekend with an impressive $38.6 million.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film collected $25.3 million in the U.K. alone, becoming the country’s biggest opening ever. “Solace” will expand to 60 territories next week.

At No. 2, Disney’s “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” took home $25.9 million in 32 markets, lifting its international total to $85 million after two weeks in release.

Following in third place was new entry “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa,” which pulled in $17.8 million in only two markets.

Meanwhile, Joel and Ethan Coen’s “Burn After Reading” earned another $6.7 million, bringing its overseas cumulative total to $58 million.

David Hackl’s “Saw V” finished at No. 5, reaching $14.3 million thanks to weekend earnings of $5.8 million.

Other overseas results: “Max Payne” picked up $2.9 million; “Mamma Mia!” snatched $3.4 million; “Eagle Eye” added another $4.5 million; and “Nights in Rodanthe” earned $2.7 million.
