Revised 'Star Trek' trailer debuts online

"Star Trek" fans were in for a big surprise today after a revised trailer popped up online with a tiny bit of new footage.

You can check out the preview after the jump. It's basically the same trailer we've already seen, with the exception of a brief new scene at 1 minute and 48 seconds.

Okay, are you ready? It's Leonard Nimoy, the original Spock! He only speaks a few words here, but it's still a pretty cool moment.

This new reboot is directed by J.J. Abrams, and the plot chronicles the early days of Kirk and his crew on the Enterprise. Chris Pine, Eric Bana, Simon Pegg and Zoe Saldana co-star.

[SPOILER] Knowing what happens in the first 30 minutes of the film (there was a press screening with Abrams of the first half hour in Germany), here's what's going on: Spock (Nimoy) travels back in time to help the young Kirk change the future. Sounds to me like Abrams wants to mess with the canon. So far, Nimoy appears to be a desperate move to get fans to like a movie that is clearly written only to appeal to non-trekkies.
