Del Toro developing 'Pinocchio' feature

Guillermo del Toro and the Jim Hensen Co. are currently developing a stop-motion version of "Pinocchio," according to bloody-disgusting.com.

Del Toro, who's writing the script with Gris Grimly, told the Web site the film will be much darker than the original tale.

"The idea came from Gris, and everybody loves his book about it. The original story is far more perverse and spooky and semi-necrophilia vibe to it in certain aspects," he told B-D.

Grimly will direct "Pinocchio" with Adam Parrish King. Del Toro most recently directed "Hellboy II: The Golden Army."

Besides "The Hobbit," del Toro is also prepping for remakes of "Frankenstein" and "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde." He's also on board for "Slaughterhouse-Five" and "Drood." Wow, that guy sure is busy, and that's bloody awesome.
