Jaden Smith is the new ‘Karate Kid’

Jaden Smith will topline Coumbia’s new version of John G. Avildsen’s 1984 hit movie “The Karate Kid.”

Chris Murphy is writing the remake. Variety says the film will borrow from the original, in which a bullied boy learns all there is to know about karate with the help of an enthusiastic mentor.

Jaden last starred alongside his father Will Smith in “The Pursuit of Happyness.” He can next be seen in “The Day the Earth Stood Still.”

The original “Karate Kid” was followed by three sequels, which I hope we won’t have to experience with the launch of this updated version.

Being already sick and tired of many of these remakes, this is certainly the last thing I need. This and the unnecessary “Beverly Hills Ninja 2.”

There's an old saying:If it ain't broke, don't fix it.Please, leave a classic alone!!! I doubt seriously this re-make will be a success. Is Hollywood running out of ideas for movies that they keep re-doing old ones?Come on!

How old is that little kid? 9? ...maybe 10. I'm not saying the original was for mature audiences but I'm sure they're going to turn it into a movie for elementary school kids. Complete w/ fart jokes. They should not be remaking it... If they would make another part to Karate kid it should be w/ the original karate kid but back as the new sensei.

Don't change a good recipe.

Man, this will be totally awesome!. Karate kid was at best an average movie. I think it needs a remake... just think how much cooler it could be with modern hollywood production values.

I heard that Chuck Norris is playing the head of the Cobra-Kai. This motion picture will be epic.
