Warner to develop live-action ‘Tom Thumb’

Warner Bros. and Red Wagon are all set to develop “Tom Thumb,” a live-action flick based on the English folklore character, according to Variety.

The trade says the story is centered on an arrogant knight who's shrunk to 6 inches while assigned to protect a princess and then discovers what it means to be a real hero.

Robert Rodat, screenwriter of “Saving Private Ryan” and “The Patriot,” will pen the script. Kevin Lima, who most recently helmed “Enchanted,” is directing.

Warner apparently wants “Tom” to appeal to audiences worldwide. The little character first emerged in the 16th century.
