‘Ramayan 3392 AD’ comes to big-screen

Mark Canton is set to produce the big-screen adaptation of Liquid Comics’ “Ramayan 3392 AD” for Mandalay Pictures, according to Variety.

The trade says John Collee is adapting the comicbook, based on epic Hindu poem about the adventures of legendary blue-skinned warrior Prince Rama, who fights to rescue his wife from the demon king who kidnapped her.

Collee’s credits also include “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World” and “Happy Feet.” He also wrote the screenplay for Jon Amiel’s upcoming biopic “Creation,” which stars Paul Bettany as Charles Darwin.

Canton also produced “300” and “The Spiderwick Chronicles.” His upcoming projects include Alexandre Aja’s “Piranha 3-D” and Kevin Tancharoen’s remake of “Fame.”
